A clinical psychologist and a math teacher, sisters Ana and Sílvia, decided to open in Guimarães a very special place for those who love books and good chats.

Rimas e Tabuadas opened during Feira Afonsina, in the historic center, and presents us with the best organic products (all Portuguese), surprising us with the events that it organizes, the books that can be read right there, and the theme weeks that highlight authors that deserve recommendation.

Dozens of books fill Rimas e Tabuadas’ shelves and an incredible literary exchange is generated here, accompanied by a biological tea or coffee, a gluten-free chocolate cupcake, yogurt with granola (passion fruit yogurt with kiwi and granola is recommended!) or even a piece of homemade cake that comforts your stomach and makes you feel at home (we tried the orange, olive oil and chia seeds cake and became fans!).

Rimas e Tabuadas is not a bakery, nor a library or a book store – it’s a combination of the best of both worlds, created with the love and dedication that were revealed as soon as Ana and Sílvia begun to tell us the story of the project. There’s no way we can’t feel welcome in this place.

And not only in the historic center can this passion for books be felt! In addition to hosting local authors and to raise awareness of the history of Guimarães, Rimas e Tabuadas also organizes “Literary Trips”, inviting the public to closely meet the places - in Guimarães or other cities - that inspired a certain book, that made part of a particular writer’s life, and that are important to the Portuguese literature.

Cool Tip: Rimas e Tabuadas has thematic weeks dedicated to writers from around the world, offering discounts and/or activities related to the highlighted author.
