Donna Veggie
Two architects dropped the models and construction plans to open a vegan restaurant in the cradle city. It's called Donna Veggie and is located behind Guimarães' Courthouse.
At Donna Veggie, the concern for animals and the planet is the motto for everything that's made. With a tidy decoration and a careful service, the restaurant works through a buffer that varies daily, allowing several combinations to be made.
The typical peixinhos-da-horta, tomato rice, puffs, sandwiches and quiches, were some options we came across the day we decided to have lunch at Donna Veggie's. The verdict? Super approved! With a homemade character, as if it was grandma's food, the ingredients complement each other exceptionally. For dessert, the coconut cake and the chocolate mousse - both delicious!
Nothing is of animal origin and, at Donna Veggie, local producers and suppliers that meet this criterion are favored - even in the fields, animals aren't used when working the land.
The environmental concern also goes beyond the dishes: plastic is avoided and, instead of a tip jar, at the counter, there's a box for donations reverting to an animal protection society (Sociedade Protetora dos Animais).
Cool Tip: All the profit from Lince beers goes to an association that protects the Iberian Lynx, an endangered species. With your meal, order a beer and make a difference!
