Alma Portuguesa emerged from a dream kept in the drawer for years. In 2017, Ana Macedo decided to get to work and, in record time (only 15 days!), started to make known what’s best about Portugal.

On Rua Dr. António Mota Prego, Alma Portuguesa welcomes us with the hospitality and sympathy of the Portuguese, the sound of the ambient music (fado, of course!) accompanies our discovery from north to south of the country in this corner of Guimarães.

In this store only Portuguese products are sold - this is a Portuguese home, com certeza! - all of them carefully selected by the owner. Only the best exists at Alma Portuguesa. It’s not wrong to say that this is where the flavors of grandma’s house, the reinvented design and the culture we love so much intersect.

Port wine, olive oil from Trás-os-Montes, jams, chocolates (from the internationally recognized Feitoria do Cacau), tiles, condiments, biological teas of Alentejo, books in several languages, 100% natural honey and ceramics are just some products we find in such a Portuguese place. There’s no shortage of canned products, sardines or accessories (such as backpacks created through the reuse of wasted materials, or typical berets with details and references to tradition).

Ana tells us with pride that she’s looking for products that exist beyond what they are; that tell a story, that have appealing packages, that are attractive by the concept that accompanies them. There’s no doubt that this is a shop created with a lot of love, that fulfills its goal (to show what’s best in Portugal), and that reminds us how good it is to be in Guimarães.

Cool Tip: In special times and commemorative dates, Alma Portuguesa receives limited editions of different brands and product types. If you’re looking for a gift where the Portuguese spirit can be felt, there’s no other place to buy it.
